Use of the WEEE Mark

The WEEE mark (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment mark) features a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that a product must not be disposed of as unsorted waste with general household waste. Instead, it must be separately collected for recovery and recycling. The mark is combined with your identification mark, such as your brand name or trademark, and applied to all electrical and electronic equipment sold within the EU.

For products placed on the market after August 13, 2005, you must include a bar underneath the crossed-out bin or indicate the date the product was placed on the market. For more information, visit the EU website, where you can also view an image of the symbol.

Where Should the WEEE Mark Be Applied?

The WEEE mark must be placed directly on the product itself and must be visible, legible, and indelible. Only if the product is too small or if marking it would interfere with its functionality, you may place the mark on the packaging, user manual, or warranty certificate. The mark is used in combination with your identification mark, such as your brand name or trademark, on all electrical and electronic equipment marketed within the EU.
